Visit the city of Marrakech, a medieval town that was founded in 1062 also known as the Red town

, the “pearl of the south” or the “Ocher city”. Indeed, the Inhabitants of this Moroccan Southern city are known to be quite generous, good tempered, and very helpful. Indeed, Marrakechis are well-known for their sociability, warmth and honesty. Many famous places are worth visiting there: In the center of Marrakech you cannot miss that square space, Djemaa el Fna , which is considered as the operating point for all kinds of entertainers such as acrobats, dancers, drummers, pipe musicians, comedians and storytellers. Djemaa el Fna was recently recognised as an "oral patrimony of humanity" and is attracting both local visitors and foreign tourists.

Marrakech includes many historical sites such as Koutoubia Minarat, the Saadian Tombs, and the Bahia Palace. The Koutoubia Minarat is actually one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world; it’s one of the most impressive sights in the city of Marrakech, and visitors are usually delighted before its 225 foot tall minaret. The Saadian Tombs with their outstanding decorations and beautiful architectural structures are considered as an amazing tourist attraction. Those Tombs were built to house the tombs of the Saadian Sultan, Ahmed el Mansour, and all his successors. Thel Bahia Palace was founded in the late 19th century. It required seven years of hard work from the part of skillful craftsmen from the Region of Fes. The ceiling and the ground are marvelllously decorated with multiple types of Moroccan zelliges, different kinds of marble, and various fountains.

Marrakech is a city where it is hard to get bored.

Once in Marrakech, you have the choice, as accommodation there ranges from mid-range hotels to luxurious up-market modern hotels with high standard facilities such as swimming pools and annexed five stars restaurants. The choice is yours, but whether you opt for the first kind of accommodation or the second, you are not likely to get disappointed. Each type of hotels has its own charm and its own characteristics. The more you get familiar with the weather and the people, the more enjoyable your vacation will become. If you don’t really like staying in hotels, a variety of other choices are offered: private villas, traditional riyads in the old medina, modern apartments, small studios that will probably suit your budget.

Cuisine

In Marrakech you will find plenty of inexpensive cafés and restaurants serving a variety of traditional meals: couscous, Tajine, Tanjia (a Marrakchi’s typical meat meal)…etc. Moroccan cuisine is offered at its best and staff is highly qualified as the city receives a huge number of tourists every year. You may also opt for up-market restaurants which you can find in areas like Guéliz.
